The three guesthouses – traces of Sri Sai

In Shirdi there are three wadas (guesthouses). They are Sathewada, Deekshitwada and Butewada (Samadhi mandir); these three houses are established by the will of Sri Sai. Even today they are respected as abodes of Sri Sai for the faithful devotees.

With the grace of Baba Hari Vinayaka Sathe was blessed with children. As a token of gratitude he constructed Sathewada. In those days the devotees of Shirdi used to stay in this guesthouse. This is very near to the neem tree (Guru Sthanam) under which Baba sat and meditated.

The second one is Deekshitwada. Kaka Saheb Deekshit, who got rid of his weakness of mind by the Darshan of Baba, had started its construction in 1910. That day in Chavadi the ritual of night aarthi began.

The third one is a big house of stone. Today it is called by every one as

„Samadhi Mandir?. This is built by Butty of Nagpur at the sight where Baba himself cultivated a garden and which is between Dwarakamai and Guru Sthanam. In this place, the physical remains of Sri Sai were kept in Samadhi. Baba caused both Shyama and Butty to get similar dream and there by conveyed the construction of basement for this Mandir. He even gave valuable suggestions for its construction. By the time the construction work was completed, Baba left his mortal remains. In 1954 Balaji Vasantha Rao

Taleem, a resident of Mumbai, has sculpted Baba?s glorious beautiful image in stone that seems like having life.

Even though we were unfortunate to see Baba when he was in flesh and blood, we get the feeling of seeing Baba direct by looking at this idol. True to the promise he made Sri Sai is conducting all types of work through the Samadhi.

Sri Sainathaya Namah.
